Highways England full statement as they tell commuters to 'find alternative routes'
Highways England have been updating us on the incident via twitter throughout the morning, but have still strongly advised people find an alternative route.
Their full statement read:
“The A316 in Surrey is closed in both directions between M3 J1 and A314 and due to a serious collision.
Metropolitan Police are on scene and dealing with the incident. Long delays are building on the M3 eastbound on the approach to the closure, with slow moving traffic from J2 (M25).
Traffic is being diverted via local routes. Road users are advised to allow extra time for there journey or find alternative routes.”
How can I find out about bus routes affected by the closure?
Transport for London have an online platform where you can type your bus route and it will give you the latest “traffic status” related to it.
As it stands, bus routes in and around the A316 are affected both in west London and in Surrey, so commuters using public transport should check here.
For example, if you type in “290” route, it says: “Route 290 westbound is on diversion due to the closure of Country Way from Hospital Bridge Road to Sunbury Cross following a road traffic incident. Buses are diverting from Sainsburys Hampton, right Uxbridge Road, right High Street, right Thames Street, ahead Upper Sunbury Road, ahead Staines Road East, ahead Sunbury Cross to usual line of route.”
