These are the latest images of up to 920 homes planned for the site of Hounslow Civic Centre, beside Lampton Park, in Hounslow .

The council HQ is set to move to a new seven-storey building at a council car park in Bath Road, just west of Hounslow High Street.

The existing civic centre in Lampton Road would be demolished and the land sold for housing to pay for the new council offices.

Consultation about proposals for both sites is underway, with a planning application expected in early December and a decision likely next spring.

Should the plans get the go-ahead, the new civic centre would be scheduled for completion by May 2018, in time for that year's local elections.

The first 170 homes on the current civic centre site should be finished later that year. Work on the remainder would not begin until the new council HQ opens, with a planned completion date for those homes of 2022.

The new civic centre would house Hounslow library on the first floor, which would move from its existing home at the Treaty Centre in Hounslow High Street. There would only be 43 car parking spaces, all for council staff.

The existing civic centre was completed in 1976. The council says it is now too large for the slimmed-down workforce, is expensive to run and requires £17m worth of urgent repairs.

Bouygues Development and Notting Hill Housing were appointed by the council in July to develop the existing Civic Centre site, with 850 homes planned at the time.

Here are the key facts about the proposals for both sites:

EXISTING CIVIC CENTRE, LAMPTON ROAD

  • Up to 920 homes, including 170 in the first phase
  • Brick buildings with a maximum of nine storeys beside the park, but mostly six storeys, with some two-storey mews houses adjacent to existing homes
  • Mixture of one to four bedroom homes, at least 40% of which would be 'affordable'
  • 441 car parking spaces and 1,861 for bikes
  • Register office building to be maintained, with a cafe planned on the ground floor
  • Architects Allies and Morrison's portfolio includes the King's Cross Central development

NEW CIVIC CENTRE, BATH ROAD

  • Seven storeys, with civic chamber and terraces on top floor
  • 800 work stations for council staff (down from about 1,800 at present)
  • 43 parking spaces (none for the public)
  • Library and register office on first floor (library to be slightly smaller than existing Hounslow library in Treaty Centre)
  • Public counters and café on ground floor
  • Architects Sheppard Robson built the UK's first net zero-carbon house in 2007

Proposals for both sites will be exhibited at the Treaty Centre, in Hounslow High Street, tomorrow (Saturday, November 7) from 10am-4pm.
