A 27-year-old man has died after he was hit by a train at Hayes and Harlington station.

Emergency services attended the scene at around 5pm on Saturday (July 1).

British Transport Police (BTP) has now confirmed that the person struck was pronounced dead at the scene.

A BTP spokeswoman said: "Officers attended alongside the London Ambulance Service but sadly a 27-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

"His family have been informed of his death.

"The incident is not being treated as suspicious and a file will be prepared for the coroner."

All lines through the station were closed while the incident was dealt with , which meant all trains from Paddington , including the Heathrow Express, were cancelled for about two hours.

Lines began reopening with trapped trains being released at around 7pm, Hayes and Harlington, West Drayton and Iver and Langley stations remained closed for longer.

Delays lasted for the remainder of the evening on all Great Western Railway services departing from and arriving at Paddington, although Heathrow Express services were back to a normal Saturday service by 8pm.
