A trial date has been set for a 22-year-old man accused of importing class A drugs worth £120,000 on the streets.

Border Force officers at Heathrow Airport found three kilos of cocaine in a backpack on a flight from Bogota, Colombia.

Officers stopped a male passenger who had arrived on the flight and an arrest was made.

The white powder had an estimated street value of £120,000 if cut and sold on the streets.

An investigation was carried out by the National Crime Agency.

Brayan Aristizabal Ruiz, of Rotherhithe Street, Southwark, appeared Isleworth Crown Court on Thursday (November 24) where his case was put on a warned list for trial from April 3 2017.

A warned list sets out the two week period in which the trial will start.

The dual British and Columbian national was arrested and charged on October 25.

He pleaded not guilty to importing a class A drug and was remanded in custody following his first appearance at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on October 26.
