A third burst water main in the space of five days could spell misery for football fans heading towards Shepherd’s Bush .

There is heavy congestion around Ariel Way and Wood Lane on Tuesday (September 13) following the latest leak.

And it threatens to hamper QPR fans travelling to their evening Championship match against Newcastle at Loftus Road , with delays being caused to the Central line as well.

Thames Water say the incident occurred at around 1.30pm after a pipe was damaged by a third party digging in the road.

Transport for London say Wood Lane is still closed nearly two hours later in both directions, while Central line say the flood has caused delays on the entire line.

However, it is hopeful that services will return to normal in time for the evening rush hour.

A Thames Water spokesperson said: “We’re working as quickly as we can to stop the flow of water and will get the pipe fixed as soon possible.

“We’re in close contact with Transport for London to manage disruption to traffic and delays to services on the Central Line.”

QPR fans have taken to Twitter as they figure out their journey to tonight’s match.

On Thursday (September 8), a water main burst at Holland Park roundabout , near Shepherd’s Bush station. Thames Water said repairs to the area lasted until the weekend .

And in Ealing on Sunday (September 11) another burst water main caused traffic misery for motorists.
