Customers who have purchased packs of Taste the Difference beefburgers from Sainsbury's are being told to avoid eating them after people "became unwell with E.coli".

The retailer is recalling its four-pack Aberdeen Angus British Beef Quarter Pounders.

The Food Standards Agency said a very small number of people had caught E.coli O157, which can cause vomiting, fever, diarrhoea and abdominal pain.

Symptoms can last up to 14 days and while most people get better without treatment, it can lead to serious complications and kidney failure.

Anyone who bought packs of these burgers, which have best before dates in July, September or October 2018, should return them.

If you suspect you may have caught E.coli, contact your GP on 111.
