Police have revealed the body of an ex-Coronation Street star's daughter found dead at Bestival showed "no clear signs of assault".

25-year-old Louella Michie - whose father John Michie has appeared in Coronation Street and Holby City was found in a wooded area close to the edge of the site where the Dorset music event was being held.

A man is currently being quizzed by police after being arrested on suspicion of murder.

Police today said an initial examination of Louella's body took place on Monday evening, but police say further examinations will need to take place over the coming weeks, including toxicology, in order to establish if there are any substances in her system or other suspicious circumstances.

Detectives also revealed the 28-year-old man arrested - who is known to Louella - is also now being interviewed on suspicion of supply of a controlled drug.

In a statement, Detective Chief Inspector Sarah Derbyshire, of Dorset Police, said: "Detectives are working tirelessly to investigate the full circumstances surrounding this tragic death.

"A post mortem examination took place that was inconclusive and therefore we need to undertake a number of other examinations before we can establish why she died.

"The 28-year-old man arrested is in addition being interviewed on suspicion of supply of a controlled drug. He remains in custody today under caution in order to assist officers with the investigation. He was known to Louella."

Police said they are working with festival organisers as they continue with their investigation and asked that Louella's family be allowed to grieve in private at this difficult time.

Police had warned festival-goers about rogue drugs days before the annual festival began at Lulworth Castle in Dorset.

In a statement, Michie’s agent said: “Sadly, I can confirm the tragic death of John Michie’s daughter, Louella, at Bestival. John and his wife Carol ask that the privacy of their family be respected at this traumatic time.”

The daughter of the former Coronation Street John Michie died at Bestival, his agent has confirmed.

Police were called to the festival just before 1am yesterday after friends expressed concerns for dancer Louella when she vanished.

A 28-year-old was then arrested on suspicion of murder “to enable officers to conduct an interview under caution to help establish the full circumstances”, the force said.

Michie played Karl Munro in Coronation Street from 2011 to 2013.

He also starred as Detective Inspector Robbie Ross in Taggart until 2010.

He has two other children, Daisy, 27, and Sam, 26.

Five days ago, the actor posted a photo on Instagram of Louella Michie, 25, making her final preparations for the Dorset music festival.

She is seen sewing an outfit in the black and white image.

"Sewing for Bestival," John wrote in the post.

Louella Michie was found dead at Bestival

The line-up for Bestival this year included The XX, Dizzee Rascal, Rag'n'Bone Man, Pet Shop Boys, Wiley and Laura Mvula.

On Sunday, festival organisers were forced to close the main arena, the Castle Stage and Ambient Forest due to high winds.

Bestival was first held in 2004 with acts including Basement Jaxx and Fatboy Slim.

The 2017 event, which featured a giant Kanye West head and a bouncy castle large enough for 100 people, was expected to attract around 30,000 festival-goers.

Last year, organisers announced Bestival would be moved from the Isle of Wight, where it was previously held, to the Dorset site.

Camp Bestival, which is aimed at families with children and takes place in July, is also held at the wooded country estate.
