Auditions are still open to feature in Mike Leigh's latest film, which is set to retell the bloody story of The Peterloo Massacre of Manchester in 1819.

If you are enthusiastic, professional and passionate about acting, then you could be in for a chance of seeing your face on the big screen.

That's right, you don't even need experience to be considered to take part.

All you have to do is complete an online form and ensure you meet the other requirements, including having proof of right to work in the UK.

According to Piece of Cake Casting, you must also have a passport, DBS certificate, bank account and National Insurance Number.

Mike Leigh is one of this country's best known directors and was behind films such as Mr Turner and Vera Drake.

Mike Leigh is still looking for extras for Peterloo

The feature film will star Maxine Peake.

An estimated 18 people died during the 1819 protest when around 80,000 demonstrators took to the streets to call for parliamentary reform.

Alexandra Pickford, director of Piece of Cake Casting, said: "It's a classic story of the working classes versus the rich and of social uprising.

"It's great he's highlighting it and bringing it to the big screen."

How do I get involved?

Extras are being sought across the south in Essex and Kent - all you have to do is apply online here.

Piece of Cake Casting is also looking for "northern faces" to feature in a "gritty English historic feature film".

Requirements for the above are: "Looking like you are tired, over worked, had a hard life and quite frankly a bit hard done by."

The company are also looking for people with "amazing" circus skills, such as trapeze artistes and fire breathers.
