More than one billion people use WhatsApp to send text messages to their friends and family.

But one niggling feature has always driven people mad.

When you're in an area with no mobile signal it's impossible to send a text and - once you're in a place with internet connection - you have to go back to your message to send it.

However, all that's changed because in the new iOS update WhatsApp has included the ability to send messages even when you don't have a connection.

The update will queue the text and once a signal is found it will automatically send the message.

This means users don't have to go back into the conversation and manually hit the send button.

To take advantage of the new feature, all you have to do is update to the latest version of WhatsApp (version 2.17.1) on your iPhone, iPad or iPod Touch.

It seems this update has taken a while to reach Apple users as those with an Andriod device have been able to do this since June 2016.

The iOS update also includes a redesigned storage usage screen that lets you manage your phone's storage by clearing videos from specific chats.

It will also allow you to send up to 30 photos or videos at once.
