A BAKER from Heston has described this majestic cake, made specially for the Queen’s diamond jubilee, as his crowning glory.
Kulwinder Kaur, a director at Kool Cakes Bakery, in New Heston Road, spent three weeks creating this masterpiece as a gift for Queen Elizabeth II.
The five-tier chocolate sponge cake, which is entirely edible apart from the pearls in the crown and the ‘60’ diamante queen was made to mark Her Majesty’s 60th year on the throne.
She was so impressed by his handiwork she invited him and fellow director Ashit Shah to personally deliver the cake to Buckingham Palace.
Mr Kumar described the honour as a ‘dream come true’ and well worth the hours of toil designing and making the 40kg, 42 inch tall cake. His daughter Jennifer Bagha said it was the ‘icing on the cake’ after 20 years in the business.
The cake was even blessed by a priest, who prayed for the Queen, at a Southall temple before being delivered.
