Smokers in west London are being urged to take the first step in giving up cigarettes for good ahead of No Smoking Day.

They are being encouraged to take advantage of the free services run by Kick-It, a stop smoking service which helps people Hammersmith and Fulham, Kensington and Chelsea , Westminster, Richmond and Kingston.

It will be at events in each of the boroughs on No Smoking Day , which takes place on March 9. Additionally Kick-It will be encouraging smokers to access support in quitting from their expert advisors who are available to help guide people towards that goal.

Andy Emerson, head of service at Kick-It said: “We understand that the majority of smokers want to stop smoking, but many find the task too daunting. No Smoking Day is the perfect opportunity to inspire smokers to quit for good.

“With support, smokers are more likely to succeed in their quit attempt. That is why Kick-It will be out in force on No Smoking Day, educating smokers on the range of local services and resources available to them.”

Studies show that while two-thirds of smokers want to quit, nearly one in five UK adults continue to smoke, including 18 % in Kensington and Chelsea, 19% in Westminster and 21% in Hammersmith and Fulham.

On No Smoking day Kick-It will be at stalls the Kings Mall and W12 shopping centres in Hammersmith and Shepherd’s Bush respectively, Chelsea Theatre and Chelsea and Westminster Hospital, in Chelsea, and Maida Vale Market in Westminster.
