Youngsters have been throwing missiles at cars while risking their lives running across roofs in North End Road.

Hammersmith and Fulham Police have faced a number of incidents in which unruly youths have been sprinting along the shop rooftops in Fulham, even using ladders to aid their gymnastic efforts.

Fulham Broadway Safer Neighbourhoods Team's PCSO Kevin Smith said: "They've been doing stunts along North End Road for the last three months. It was about the middle of August when the problem started to raise its ugly head. They've been throwing things at cars."

Now, a police initiative is helping discourage youngsters in the area from joining in the potentially lethal games.

On Wednesday last week, a group of local youths met free runner Sebastian Foucan who starred in the most recent James Bond film Casino Royale as the villain who leapt across rooftops while being pursued by 007.

The stuntman also performed a gymnastics display before talking to the teenagers about his background when they met in Normand Park in Lillie Road, Fulham.

Active Planet, a charity which helps communities remain safe, also helped to organise the day.

Employee Phil Amos said: "The police are worried about the kids killing themselves by running along the top of shops like WHSmith. The police can't chase them because someone might slip and fall off the roof."

There are now hopes that Mr Foucan will return next year to open a free-running academy in the Westway area in North Kensington.
