AN ENERGETIC woman who took part in a bike ride to Paris is encouraging others to take part in the challenge next year.

Neeta Shah, of Chestnut Avenue, Edgware, took part in the London to Paris Bike Ride for Marie Curie Cancer Care in September. She said she had such a great time that she wants everyone else to do one so they can have as much fun as she did.

The 29-year-old said: "I decided to do the bike ride because I wanted to challenge myself physically and also help others at the same time. I found the fundraising easier than I thought it would be, even in the middle of a recession, and would thoroughly recommend other people to do something like this”.

The money she raised will help Marie Curie Cancer Care to provide free nursing care to patients with terminal cancer and other illnesses in the comfort of their own homes. Last year Marie Curie nurses cared for 34 terminally ill people in the Harrow.

Community fundraiser, Claire Moss, said: “Doing a bike ride is a great way to get fit at the same time as supporting the local Marie Curie nurses.
Participants will get the full support of a fundraiser to give them ideas and support to raise the money, and many people find it easier than they imagine it will be.

"We have several bike rides taking place in 2010, including London to Paris, in the Canadian Rockies, the lost city of Petra in Jordan, and an exciting new Jamaican bike ride being led by Mr Motivator.”
