Youngsters tapped into their wild side as they prepared for yesterday's London Mela by creating incredible nature-themed costumes.

Brightly coloured birds, an antelope and flowers were among the stunning outfits rustled up during workshops at Hounslow's Paul Robeson Theatre on Saturday (August 30).

The free sessions were led by Clary Salandy and Mahogany Carnival Arts.

The theme of this year's festival, which was attended by tens of thousands of people in Gunnersbury Park yesterday, was Utsava.

The Sanskrit word describes the removal of worldly sorrows or grief, as festival-goers forgot their worries while taking part in the revelry at what has been described as Europe's largest South Asian festival.

We'll have photos from the festival itself later today.
