A GARDENING project in Brentford has been so successful it is opening a new site in Isleworth.

Cultivate London, a community allotment project, offers young people aged 16 to 24 the chance to gain new skills, by learning how to grow herbs and vegetables.

The produce is then sold on to local businesses.

Leah McPherson, who set up the project, said she was looking forward to having a new site which would see more spaces for volunteers to come and help out.

A community day was held at the new site, in London Road, on Saturday and people turned up to prune bushes, make paths and chop down ivy ready for a big winter planting session.

The volunteers’ hard work was rewarded with a big barbecue at lunch time.
