Children ran, skipped, jogged and danced the day away to raise money for Sport Relief.

Youngsters at schools across Hounslow took part in all sorts of physical challenges last Friday (March 21) as part of Comic Relief's sprightly sister appeal.

At Isleworth Town Primary School, the playground was transformed into a giant dancefloor as 750 pupils got their feet moving to the Sport Relief Step it Up song. They were among 3,000 children in the area completing the routine on the day.

Over at Springwell Junior School, in Heston, little ones ran, walked, skipped and jogged their way along a one-mile course wearing their own clothes to raise money.

School administrator Debbie Lea said: "The children seemed to really enjoy it and we were so lucky with the weather."

Springwell Junior School raised £1042.82 on the day, while Isleworth Town Primary School is still adding up its total.

Elsewhere, 10 youngsters aged between three and 10, jogged a mile around the track at Osterley Sports & Athletics Centre on the day, raising an impressive £481.08.

A team of 10 youngsters raised nearly £500 for Sport Relief by jogging a mile around the track at Osterley Sports & Athletics Centre last Friday, March 21. It wasn't just young people supporting the cause either. At Hounslow Specsavers, 12 members of staff hiked 11 miles from the chain's flagship store in Tottenham Court Road to the their own branch, in Hounslow High Street. They had raised more than £1,500 as of this morning.

All the money collected on the day will be spent by Comic Relief to improve people's lives at home and abroad, from providing shelter for young rough sleepers to ensuring communities can access fresh water.

The total raised for Sport Relief stood at £53,370,743 on Monday morning, with more cash expected to roll in over the coming days and weeks.
