A man believed to be in his 20s has been taken to hospital after a car crash this afternoon (18).

The accident involved a car and van near the Tesco Express on Hounslow Road at the junction with Uxbridge Road just after 2pm.

The crash led to Hounslow Road being blocked and traffic queuing in surrounding roads with buses on diversion.

Paramedics from the London Ambulance Service (LAS) were at the scene for more than hour.

A LAS spokeswoman said: We were called at 2.08pm to Hounslow Road junction with Uxbridge Road to reports of a road traffic collision.

"We sent an ambulance crew to the scene.

"We have taken one patient, a man, reported to be in his 20s to West Middlesex Hospital.

"A car and van were involved."

Amanda Tomkins, 21, of Hounslow Road, was walking to the shops with her mum when they noticed the traffic.

Miss Tomkins said: "We didn't see the accident but noticed there was a lot of traffic as we were walking down the road and saw a car in the middle of the road.

"I walked around the corner and saw a van and lots of paramedics.

"A patient was on a stretcher."

There have been at least six accidents in the are between Apex Corner and the junction of Hounslow Road and Uxbridge Road in the past five months.

Last month, there were two accidents in the area including a motorbike and car crash on Uxbridge Road in which three people were injured and another nearby on the A316 Country Way involving two cars and one woman injured.
