Two art students have received national recognition for their A Level work.

Sixth formers at St Benedict’s School in Eaton Rise, Niko Mirosevic-Sorgo and Madeline Brooking, have both had their work chosen by the Royal Academy for an online exhibition of A Level Art.

Niko’s painting Creator and Creation and Madeline’s piece Precarious were shortlisted for the collection which will be on display until August 17.

Niko has explored the link between the creator and their creation and contextualises this link through the lens of 21st Century consumerism.

Madeline’s piece is a self-identity image, portraying the short time we have to fulfil our life’s aspirations.

The books represent her education, the piggybank her aspirations, and the hourglass the short time life gives to achieve those aspirations.

The teenager has been particularly inspired by Belgian surrealist artist, Rene Magritte.
