THOUSANDS of people have been stranded abroad after travel giant XL went into administration.

An estimated 90,000 Brits have had their breaks away turned into a holiday from hell, and a mass operation is currently ongoing to fly them home.

British Airways has warned up to 30 more small airlines could also be facing bankruptcy.

Michael Cawley, Ryanair's deputy chief executive, said: "This is proof positive that passengers should not book their holidays with flaky, financially-stretched airlines such as XL."

The Gazette would like to hear from anybody from Hillingdon who has been caught up in the fiasco.
