HARROW and Brent's local X Factor hopefuls will be looking for repeat performances on this Saturday's show after they both wowed the judges at the weekend.

Former Pinner schoolgirl Katie Waissel bounced back from a difficult first week to sail through.

After finishing in the bottom two and needing ajudges' vote to survive, she had no such problems in her second outing with a stripped-down rendition of Etta James' I Would Rather Go Blind, that was highly praised.

The 24-year-old said prior to the show that she had been 'set free' after surviving the previous sing-off.

"I know people are expecting me to say I was mortified or I was horrified but no, it set me free.

"I can go out there and sing the song I want to sing. Louis Walsh saved me, and he saved my dignity."

Vowing to not finish in the bottom two again, she did just that by impressing all four judges with a soaring vocal performance.

Mr Walsh said: "I am so glad I saved you last week. I saved you because I thought you have a talent and you are a hard worker.

"You are very emotional, I think the people in the press are giving you a hard time but they are not judging you on your talent."

And Simon Cowell added: "I think she is showing her true self."

Harlesden's John Adeleye continued his impressive run in the competition with a heartfelt performance of Donny Hathaway's A Song For You.

The 30-year-old former care home activities co-ordinator was tearful when rehearsing but sang a faultless rendition on Saturday night.

Judge Danii Minogue said John was 'one of the most loved contestants in this year's line up'. She said: "It radiates from you when you sing, you have such a natural voice."

And Cheryl Cole added: "That is part of the beauty of being a performer, you can put the emotion into a song and I really felt it from you tonight."

Both will appear again live on ITV1 at 7.45pm this Saturday (23).
