CHILDREN have left their mark on their new school building.

Pupils at Hermitage Primary School signed their names or drew a picture on a wall in one of the new classrooms as a lasting legacy of their time there.

The entire school is being rebuilt and the new classroom is one of the first buildings to be completed.

“Before they started decorating the interior of the rooms we thought it would be a nice idea for the pupils to sign their name or draw on the walls,” said Jo Smallwood, office manager at the school in Belmont Road.

“This was the first phase to be completed so it was very exciting to see it.

“Eventually the names will be painted over but it is nice that every child’s name is on there.”

The rest of the school as it is will be demolished and the new buildings are expected to be complete by spring 2015.
