Work has started on the delivery of 46 homes as part of a £6.6m regeneration scheme of a Feltham housing estate.

This is the second phase of the Manor Lane Estate housing project undertaken by United House in partnership with Hounslow council.

It will deliver 46 mixed tenure dwellings following the acquisition of eight privately owned properties on the estate.

Councillor Amrit Mann, deputy leader of Hounslow Council and cabinet member for the environment, said: ”This marks a key milestone in the latest phase of our new build programme.

"The scheme will help us reach our target of ultimately getting 2,500 new affordable homes built or approved by 2014, providing much needed modern new homes for local families.”

Works include the demolition of 32 existing properties which will be replaced with 36 one and two-bedroom apartments for private sale, due for completion in November next year.

United House will also deliver 10 three and four-bedroom houses for rent from Hounslow Homes and Hounslow council by July 2015.

This follows from the decanting of existing tenants at the site who have been rehoused into 22 new affordable apartments as part of the first phase of the Manor Lane project, which was completed earlier this year.

As part of its growing housing portfolio in Hounslow, United House also announced it recently sold the last home at The Green, a previous project comprising 190 homes (80 for private sale) in Hounslow.

Jeffrey Adams, group chief executive of United House, said: “United House is committed to delivering quality, mixed tenure properties that make a real difference to the local community.

"We have been at the centre of Hounslow’s transformation for a number of years now and look forward to continuing to help meet the demand for new homes in the borough.”

In August, last year the council announced plans to build 259 more new homes to address the borough's housing crisis.
