STAFF at Woolworths in Uxbridge have expressed their concerns over their future.

Over 30,000 members of staff nationwide faced the prospect of losing their job before New Year.

The Uxbridge High Street branch was heaving all day today (Thursday), as shoppers filled the store looking for Christmas bargains.

A member of staff who asked to remain anonymous, said: "We are not being told anything, all the information we are told is in conflict with something that is in the news.

"Some people have been here for 20 years and a lot of them just don't know what to do.

"We've been horribly busy and there is barely any stock.

" A lot of people have been sympathetic, but there have been a few negative remarks as well."

There are three stores in the borough, one in Uxbridge, one in Uxbridge Road, Hayes and one in Ruislip High Street.
