A MURDER investigation is underway after a young woman's body was pulled from a canal in Southall on Christmas Day.
Police are appealing for witnesses after being called to Bankside, a stretch of the Grand Union Canal just off The Broadway, at 11.40am following calls from the public on December 25.
The woman has been identified as 23-year old Ruby Love from Harrow. Next of kin have been informed.
A post-mortem examination held on Monday at Uxbridge Mortuary could not establish a formal cause of death and police are still awaiting test results.
Officers are appealing for anyone who witnessed anything suspicious near the Bankside, Southall on, or before Christmas Day. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Incident Room on 020 8358 0400.
- A 27-year old man was arrested yesterday on suspicion of murder and remains in custody at a north London police station. It is not known at this stage if he has been charged.
