A WOMAN suffered serious injuries when she was hit by a reversing car which then drove off.

The 44-year-old has been described as 'serious but stable' by police after she was hit by the Mercedes C class car at about 7.10pm on Saturday (20).

She was injured in Clock Tower Mews, Hanwell, and taken to a central London hospital by ambulance.

The car believed to be involved in the hit and run was found in a nearby garage shortly after.

A 35-year-old has been arrested on suspicion of causing serious injury by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

He has been bailed to return in July.

Officers from the Met's traffic unit are investigating.
