A HOMEOWNER is livid after an odd-job man took her cash but, she says, failed to do any work.
Andaya Gaeling, 44, claims she gave builder Joe Smith £220 to buy materials to fix a bannister in her home in Walnut Avenue, West Drayton.
Recommended the builder by a friend, Mrs Gaeling was quoted £300 to do the job.
That was nearly two weeks ago. But having been told Mr Smith would start work the following day, he then failed to arrive.
Mrs Gaeling said: "He told me he would be here on the Friday.
"I called when he didn't turn up and he said he'd be here the next day.
"The same thing happened the following two days. Now he doesn't even answer the phone.
"I told him I wasn't happy and he was pushing his luck."
"I call him all the time. I've left messages. I want my money back," she said.
The Gazette tried to contact Mr Smith, believed to live in West Drayton, but so far he has failed to reply.
Mrs Gaeling added: "I just think people need to be warned so they don't end up in the same situation."
