A young woman waiting for the last train home was raped on the footbridge of Hounslow's railway station at the weekend.

A young woman waiting for the last train home was raped on a footbridge near Hounslow's railway station at the weekend.

Transport police are now appealing for witnesses to the attack, which happened at around 11.30pm on Saturday night.

A 25-year-old man has been arrested charged with rape and assault.

British Transport Police Detective Inspector Keith Bennett said: "The 20-year-old victim was at the station waiting for the last train around 11.30pm when the incident occurred.

"Following an investigation, police swiftly arrested and charged a 25-year-old man with rape and assault.

"He has been remanded to Westminster City Magistrates Court today."

Anyone who was at the station on Saturday night around 11.30pm who may have witnessed anything relating to this case should contact police on 0800 40 50 40 with information.
