THE owners of a fledgling beauty business have thanked neighbours for helping them recover from a break-in.

A thief broke into Skin Retreat in Wandsworth Bridge Road early last month, smashing through the front windows and stealing numerous valuable products.

Christine and Jennifer Hawkins were shocked and distressed, but the mother and daughter revealed how the community has rallied around.

Jennifer said: “It appears to be just a random hurtful and unprovoked attack and we are now trying to take something positive out of a bad situation. Two men were driving past at the time of the incident and flagged down police as they were passing. There are of course some good people out there.”

The pair, who started the company only a year ago, said their neighbours, Randalls butchers, helped them clear up the mess.

Jennifer added: “We are a family-run business and have built up a loyal, local following and hope to let our customers and local businesses know what has happened and to be aware and consider their own security.”

A woman has been charged with burglary in connection with the incident in the early hours of July 11. She will appear in court this month.
