A SCHOOLBOY studying motor vehicles has shown he is a real bright spark by winning the regional prize for Young Apprentice of the Year.
Mason Brindley, 16, a pupil at Abbotsfield School, in Clifton Gardens, Hillingdon, was invited to a glittering awards bash at Madame Tussauds in central London, where he was announced as the winner.
Mason had previously won the area finals at the Heathrow Inn, in May, and now, having picked up the prize as the regional winner, he will go through to the national finals to be held in July.
As well as taking motor vehicles studies at Abbotsfield, he has been doing work experience at Uxbridge based firm Torque of The Devil, who are located in Arundel Road.
Polly Brindley, his mother, said: "We are very proud of Mason. It was a lovely evening and made even better by him winning the award."
Mason's apprenticeship was set up by Skillnet Limited, who work in conjunction with Hillingdon Training. Skillnet was also presented with an award on the night.
On winning the award, Mason said: "My apprenticeship has been a fantastic experience and has given me the skills to progress further in my chosen career.
"I would like to thank my employers, Torque of The Devil, who looked after me on my placements and my training provider for all their support along the way and for giving me the opportunity to succeed."
