Cllr Moylan's letter ridiculing the TaxPayers' Alliance and Residents First! is a bit rich.

The front page of the paper reports more profligacy in the K&C Town Hall. This time a £4,000 reception for local diplomats. Who on earth do Leader Cockell and his cabinet think they are? The Foreign Office!?

It's the job of the Foreign Office to look after diplomats. It's the job of local councillors to look after the dustbins, parks and schools (which we, the taxpayers, pay for and expect to have our money wisely spent). The council should not stray into areas where they have no remit and they should certainly not be spending hard-earned council taxes on events that help them to inflate their egos.

And please, less talk of how low the taxes in K&C are. This is the most densely-populated borough in the country. Of course it is cheaper to collect dustbins here than in the Highlands of Scotland. So let's have less of this propaganda and concentrate on how our money is being spent.
