IN MY experience, the claim in the Gazette that the Café Plaza does not serve disabled people has no basis in fact [Café refused to serve my mum because she suffers disability,Gazette,March 11].

My husband and I have been customers of the café since it was taken over by the present management, and we have seen many weel-chair users being served.

Had the owner agreed to put some powder in Mrs Peter's drink, whose origin she did not know as requested by Mrs Peter's daughter, she might well have been in difficulty with legal or health and safety regulations.

She was therefore quite right to refuse to do so.
