Waiting times at West Middlesex Hospital are among the lowest in London, new figures have revealed.

Just five per cent of patients waited longer than 18 weeks to be treated during March, according to statistics from the Department of Health.

That was less than all but four hospitals in the capital, three of which are specialist teaching trusts.

London's best performing hospital was the Royal Marsden in central London.

West Mid's chief executive Tara Donnelly said: "We are particularly thrilled at our performance for admitted patients. These are most often patients who come to us for a surgical operation or a procedure such as endoscopy."
