THE AUTHOR of a "sumptuous" and"witty" book, which exposes the secrets of London's West End hotels is coming to a Brent Library.

Radio3 presenter and author Matthew Sweet will be making a special visit to Willesden Green Library on November 28 to talk about his brand new book.

TheWest End Front has been described as "a sumptuous, witty and eye-opening history of the eccentrics, stars, aristocrats and criminals living in London's grand hotels during the Blitz".

Itis Mr Sweet's third novel, his previous books are called Inventing the Victorians and Shepperton Babylon. His television programmes include Silent Britain, A Brief History of Fun and the Age of Excess.

Hewill give an illustrated talk which promises to throw new light on central London during one the capital's most turbulent times.

Cllr.James Powney, lead member for environment and neighbourhoods, said: "We've been lucky enough to host a few talks by distinguished authors over the years and they're always really popular. I'm sure Matthew Sweet's talk will be equally well received."

The talk will run from 7pm to 8.30pm at the Willesden Green Library Centre, 95 High Road, Willesden.
