A VICAR has nominated his Brownie leader for a Pride in Our People Award due to her 60 years with the church pack.

Father Peter Mackenzie of St. John's Church, Mattock Lane, West Ealing, praised Ann Cousins, who has also been nominated in the past for her stirling work managing Ealing Hospital's League of Friends cafe.

He said: "Ann Cousins, our Brownie leader has just retired after being in the pack since she was enrolled as a Brownie at age seven, 60 years ago! Ann also volunteers at the Friends of Ealing Hospital Café. She is a lovely person too!"

Ann said:"I am delighted and really surprised that Peter has nominated me. I really enjoy the brownies, which has changed over the years. It's not as structured and has become more adventurous, moving with the times. We are still popular with 30 brownies now and we have a waiting list!"

Ann, 67, from Iver, has taken on almost every role: brown and tawny owl, leader, assistant and commissioner.
