MOTORISTS might want to give West Drayton a wide berth at night until Saturday.
Station Road will be closed between 8pm and 5am every night for re-surfacing, and the only way round involves a lenghty diversion.
As Station Road crosses the Grand Union canal and then dives under the West Coast mainline - the two east-west barriers that bisect the area - and is the only north-south route for some distance, the diversion involves Horton Road, the Stockley by-pass, Cherry Lane, Sipson Road and back to Station Road.
And depending on where the road is closed, a second loop diversion will be via Swan Road, The Green and Church Road, back to Station Road.
In a statement, the council said the work was being carried out as part of its £2million town centre improvement scheme.
