A WEMBLEY woman who lost her dog after not shutting her front door properly has turned to Twitter in a bid to find him, saying she is heartbroken without him.

Anna Buchanan, 53 of Heather Park Drive, went to work on Sunday November 27 and did not realise she had not shut her front door properly.

She believes a leafleter must have pushed it open when putting a flyer through the letterbox, which prompted a neighbour to call the police thinking she had been burgled.

Ms Buchanan, who lives with her two dogs Dudley, a Shih Tzu, and Hughie, a three and a half year old Chihuahua and Yorkshire Terrier cross, said the police arrived and managed to catch Dudley.

The officers then found Hughie near the house and tried to chase him to make sure he was safe, but he ran off and has not been seen since.

The train driver manager said: "I am absolutely in bits. I am so upset, I just want him back. I've got to the point now where I don't even want to know where he has been while he's been missing, I just want him back with me.

"I think Dudley is feeling sad too, and missing him as well. He seems quite depressed."

Ms Buchanan has put posters up and joined forces with animal charities and organisations in a desperate bid to find her much loved pet, and has even taken her search to social networking site Twitter.

A photo of Hughie is doing the rounds on the internet as people tweet and retweet the heartbreaking appeal.

Twitter user Geraldine Breen is one of the people who has been trying to help, tweeting: "Missing dog from #Wembley area. 3 year old Chorkie. His name is Hughie. @WHampstead @KilburnLondon please RT"

Ms Buchanan said: "It's just so sad, I have had Hughie since he was seven months old. I really want him back home."

Brent Police have confirmed that they attended Ms Buchanan's home on the day of the incident.
