The Welsh Guards announced their arrival to their new home with a flag raising ceremony at Hounslow Barracks.

The Regiment have moved from their Hampshire base to the Beavers Lane cavalry barracks and say they are looking forward to getting to know the area and the people of Hounslow.

On Thursday the Regiment announced their official relocation by having their Champion Guardsman raise the flag of the Welsh Guards.

The troop were also inspected by the Major General to ensure they were up to the required standards for the summers two big events; the royal wedding and Trooping the Colour.

Commanding Officer Lt Col Charlie Antelme, said: We are delighted to have moved into the area.

I believe our predecessors the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers built up a great raport with the community and we want to pick up where they left off.

It's a great geographical area for us as we can easily get out to the rural areas for training and are also close to central London to do our public duties.

Once we have settled in we are looking forward to getting around and meeting the various movers and shakers of Hounslow and getting involved in community events.
