A PAEDOPHILE and former school president from Wealdstone who sexually preyed on and abused four teenage boys has been jailed for five years.

Hasnain Manji targeted victims aged between 10 and 14 over a 22-year period, with the first of his depraved attacks occurring in 1989 and the last in 2011.

The 43-year-old accountant, of High Street, Wealdstone, was a teacher at the Shia Ithna'asheri Madressa, a weekend religious school based atHusaini Islamic Centre, Wood Lane, Stanmore, where he was known as Hassan-ain Manji and was the school's president between 2003 and 2006.

Manji was sentenced on Friday last week at Harrow Crown Court after admitting 15 child sex offences at the same court on January 5.

Detective Constable Rachel Snow, from the Metropolitan Police Services Child Abuse Investigation Command, said: This man waited until these young boys were alone before assaulting them whilst they were vulnerable.

The first two victims suffered in silence for many years trying to put what happened to them at the back of their minds and I commend the bravery of the victims for coming forward.

Today justice has been done as this man received his sentence, ensuring that no other innocent child shall suffer in his hands in the future.

Manji admitted indecent assault against a 12-year-old boy, who is now in his 30s, between November 1989 and November 1991, and indecent assault against a second boy, then aged 10, between April 1990 and April 1991.

He admitted one count of sexual activity with a child under 18 years, relating to his third victim, a 12-year-old boy, in December 2010, and seven of inciting a child to engage in sexual activity with the same boy from August 2010 until January 2011.

The 43-year-olds fourth victim was aged 14 and he admitted five counts of inciting the boy to engage in sexual activity, from August 2010 until November 2010.

Detective Constable Snow said: We know that victims of such offences dont always want to come direct to police. The NSPCC have set up a commissioned helpline, 0808 800 5000, for anyone wishing to make contact. They are also able to offer language services.

Manji will have to sign the sex offenders register for life.
