THERE were chaotic scenes at West Middlesex Golf Club in Southall on Wednesday as a burst water main left parts of the course under water and wreaked havoc across west London.
It took Thames Water nearly six hours to show up after ill-informed call centre staff thought the rupture was another water company’s responsibility.
Clifton Primary School in Clifton Road, Southall, had to be closed, as did Greenfields Children’s Centre in Recreation Road.
Things were even worse in neighbouring areas, with 18 sites shut in Hounslow and 35,000 homes left without water.
Customers in Southall, Acton, Chiswick, Cranford, Heston, Hounslow, Isleworth and beyond were all affected.
