Two men tried a 'smash and grab' raid on a Kensington watchmakers yesterday using sledgehammers.
Four men pulled up on two motorbikes to Watches of Switzerland in Brompton Road just after 11.30 on Sunday.
Two went into the shop and started to smash the display cases with sledgehammers, but police were watching and moved in to catch them before anything was stolen. The other two escaped on the bikes.
The men - who are both in their early 20s - are now in custody at a central London police station.
