A black and white papillon from Brentford has made the cut for a new television talent show for dogs.

Toy spaniel Lily-Rose and her devoted owner Jenny Deakin of Birch Close, are due to appear on the channel four daytime show Superstar Dogs: Countdown to Crufts, presented by John Barrowman, tonight (19).

The three-year-old and her owner will be on the third episode of the new show, which started on Monday (17) this week, where dogs compete in a series of challenges from sprint ball to penalty shoot out as well as a tough dogstacle course.

Ms Deakin who has had Lily-Rose for four-and-a-half months, said: "It was an amazing feeling knowing she had been picked from so many other dogs.

"It's just so wonderful knowing that she got through and to have an experience of getting into a studio and filming.

"We have done photo shoots but this was a whole new experience with video cameras and an audience."

The mainly white dog with a black mask over both eyes and ears has been described as a happy dog with a big personality.

Her long mane and curled over tail gives her a height of 14 inches and length of 12 inches and she loves being in front of the camera and the centre of attention.

Lily-Rose is no stranger to competitions as she has been named dog of the year at Hale Magna dog show as well as winning dozens of rosettes and prizes at other fun dog shows.

She is not shy of the camera having starred in previous modelling shoots such as the Pet Expo Fashion Catwalk at Bluewater, and has an impressive list of almost 30 tricks, everything from jump through hoop and how to balance treat on nose.

Her favourite challenge in this competition is Sprint Ball.

Tonight's episode of Superstar Dogs starts at 5.30pm.
