SUPERMARKET giant Waitrose are unveiling plans for a new multi-million pound store in Parsons Green this week.

The retailer is planning to covert the current Alfa Romeo car showroom, on the corner of Heathman's Road and Parsons Green Lane, into their latest branch.

An agreement has been reached between Waitrose and the landlord and current tennants H.R. Owen to take over the ground floor.

Company bosses are hoping to submit a planning application by the end of this year with opening planned for December 2011.

Jon Arnold, Waitrose head of convenience, said: "Waitrose has wanted to come to Parsons Green for a very long time and welcomes the opportunity to develop a store here.

"We believe the site offers us the perfect platform to open a store that is appropriate in scale for the area and will enable us to enhance the choice of shopping facilities already available.

"Listening to the needs and views of the local community is paramount in our approach and we look forward to speaking to local shopkeepers, schools and residents at our exhibitions."

The supermarket's plans will be on display between 3pm and 8pm on Thursday (25/11) and 11am and 3pm at the showroom om Friday (26/11) with Waitrose representatives on hand to answer questions.
