STAFF at Waitrose have given a huge ‘cashback’ to Michael Sobell Hospice, in the form of a near £14,000 donation.
Workers at the stores in Kingsend, Ruislip and Green Lane, Northwood, plus three others in north-west London, took part in a series of fundraising activities, from quiz nights to cake sales in recent months.
When everything was totted up, they were able to get down to the hospice in Rickmansworth Road, Northwood and give delighted staff and volunteers a cheque for £13,600.
Helen Elliott who received the cheque on behalf of Michael Sobell Hospice said: “We are thrilled with the amazing efforts of the five Waitrose branches.
“We have thoroughly enjoyed working with them all and the amount raised will leave a wonderful ongoing legacy for the hospice.”
The hospice was chosen because a Waitrose staff member in South Harrow, Jill Rowlands, recently died of cancer there.
