TEMPORARY four-way traffic lights will be installed tomorrow (Friday 21) at Hillingdon Circus.

Essential gas mains replacement work is being carried out at the notoriously busy junction.

National Grid say the works have been scheduled to coincide with half-term, which begins on Monday, and are scheduled to last one week.

The temporary traffic lights to accommodate the work will begin tomorrow evening.

Engineers are replacing a stretch of ageing metallic gas mains in Freezeland Way at the junction with Long Lane.

The metallic mains will be replaced with tough new plastic pipes, which National Grid say will help maintain safe and dependable gas supplies in the area.

Neil Jackson, National Grid construction engineers, said: " “Our work will help ensure people in Hillingdon continue to enjoy safe and secure gas supplies for cooking and heating.

"We apologise for any inconvenience this vital work may cause and we are doing all we can to deliver it with a minimum of disruption.

"By carrying out the work during the half term school holidays – when the roads are generally quieter – we will hopefully minimise any inconvenience to the public."
