MORE than 800 metres of Virgin Media copper cables were stolen on three occasions earlier this month.
Between January 6 and 19 there were three cable thefts of 360 metres, 100 metres and 350 metres from Sidmouth Drive and Filey Waye in Ruislip Manor and from Harvey Road in Northolt which connects with West End Road, close to the Polish War Memorial.
In all three cases Virgin Media copper cables were removed from underground trunking, which would have required the suspect to lift two manhole covers to cut the cable at each end and pull the cut length through an underground pipe.
Police believe the offence would have been time consuming given the length of the cut cable, potentially leaving the offenders exposed for some time.
Hillingdon Police has asked anyone who sees someone acting suspiciously around cable manhole covers to call 999.
