We are now entering the last few days before the London Mayoral election on Thursday
3rd May and everything is indicating that it will be a photo finish in the race to become
London's Mayor between Labour's Ken Livingstone and Tory Boris Johnson.

The same is true in the Ealing and Hillingdon Assembly seat where recent polls are showing that
Labour's Dr Onkar Sahota has a real chance of toppling Tory Deputy Mayor Richard
Barnes.

The stakes could not be higher and I would ask people to make the effort to vote on
Thursday even though the weather forecast is predicting a rainy polling day. What is more
I would urge people to use their three votes on Thursday for Labour.

Ken Livingstone has said he will cut fares on buses and tubes by 7% giving on average
every Londoner an extra £1,000 in their pockets over the next four years. Ken has also
said he will reverse Tory Boris Johnson's police cuts and put extra officers back on our
streets when violent crime and burglary is back on the rise.

Ken will reintroduce the educational maintenance allowance for young people struggling
to make ends meet as they study. Ken will start to build affordable homes, help to reduce
rents and heating bills and will provide support for childcare.

On the other hand Tory Boris Johnson will put up tube and bus fares over and above
inflation, cut police numbers and continue to ignore the plight of ordinary people as he
spends time with his banker and rich friends.

If we look at the national political picture the arguments to vote Labour are even stronger!
The UK is now back in recession and the much feared double dip has happened as I
warned was likely when the Tory led government began to cut too deep and too fast in the
summer of 2010.

Osborne and Cameron are looking increasingly out of touch as they give tax breaks to
millionaires and exchange favours with the rich and powerful like Murdoch while ordinary
working people lose their jobs and tax credits.

Locally the latest threat to services comes with the announcement that we could lose
both A&Es in the Borough at Central Middlesex and Ealing Hospitals. The Prime Minister
avoided answering my question in Parliament when I sought assurances from him about
the future of Ealing Hospital and no we know why.

Local GP and Labour GLA candidate for Ealing and Hillingdon Dr Onkar Sahota has been
leading the campaign to save our local hospitals. To build on that campaign we now need
to send a very clear message to David Cameron and the Tory led government that we will
not accept what they are doing to our hospitals. We can do this by voting for Dr Sahota,
Ken Livingstone and Labour on Thursday.
