Oscar host Ellen Degeneres featured Uma Kumaran's tribute selfie to her star-studded snap.

On Thursday last week while out campaigning in Queensbury, Labour MPs were out in force with Uma Kumaran, their Harrow East candidate.

Taking a break from knocking on doors, Miss Kumaran, along with Diane Abbott, Sadiq Khan and candidate Matthew Pennycook, took the snap.

After emulating the viral picture taken by Oscar host Ellen Degeneres on Oscar night in Hollywood, the picture was featured on The Ellen Show last night.

She told her audience: "They put the party into British Labour Party, I'll tell you that."

Miss Kumaran told Get West London: "It's not everyday you appear on one of the most watched chat shows on US TV so it's all a bit surreal.

"I never thought it would get anywhere near this level of attention. The selfie was taken as a bit of fun before campaigning on a serious issue about the cost of childcare that's affecting so many families in Harrow.

"It's great that Harrow East has really been put on the map on a world platform. It's engaged so many people and opened up lots of conversations on the doorstep already.

"That can only be a positive and I look forward to speaking to many more residents in the months ahead."
