Dashing through the aisles with a one woman, open trolley, Valerie Hames of Lansdowne Road, Stanmore, managed to bag £374-worth of goodies for Christmas as winner of the Harrow Bereavement Care (HBC) and Waitrose trolley dash.

Her entry was pulled out of the hat on Sunday last week, and she got the call while driving on the motorway.

The 67-year-old only entered the charity draw because her Pilates teacher suggested she buy a ticket.

She was given two minutes to race around the store in Kingsend, Ruislip, on Sunday [Dec 8] just after closing time at 4pm, before heading – rather out of breath – for the checkout.

The sale of tickets raised £2,000 for HBC.
