London Road is reopen this morning after a building collapsed beside Hounslow bus garage yesterday afternoon.

The road remained closed late last night between the junctions with Kingsley Road and North Drive as a structural engineer assessed the damage.

The closure caused lengthy tailbacks along Kingsley Road and surrounding roads, and confusion for bus passengers as the bus station had to be evacuated and diversions put in place.

To add to the misery for commuters, Hounslow West tube station was also closed temporarily yesterday afternoon due to an unconnected power failure.

But London Road was open early this morning and buses are understood to be running as normal again.

Part of the empty office block, which was being demolished to make way for a possible housing development planned by Tesco, collapsed at about 4.40pm yesterday. No one was injured and the Health and Safety Executive has been informed.
