A coach was destroyed by fire on the westbound carriageway of the M4 at Heston yesterday evening (Thursday).
The driver and a co-driver escaped from the vehicle before the Brigade arrived. No passengers were on the coach.
The incident took place between junctions two and three of the M4 approaching the slip road to Heston services.
Four fire engines from Ealing, Chiswick, Hayes and Southall fire stations went to the scene and twenty one firefighters and officers tackled the blaze. The Brigade was called at 1821 and the fire was under control by 1956.
Local residents took to Twitter and internet forums to report traffic was at a virtual standstill for hours after the blaze was put out.
